We recently sat down with MassBio’s President & Chief Operating Officer, Kendalle Burlin O’Connell, to discuss the explosive growth Boston’s life science industry has experienced over the last five years, and how she is supporting MassBio’s more than 1,500 member organizations in overcoming today’s toughest challenges – such as housing, transportation and childcare – to keep that momentum going. Kendalle has spent the last 14 years at MassBio, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting Boston’s booming life science and healthcare industries by representing and providing various services to its 1,500 member organizations, working her way up from Director of Purchasing and Strategic Alliance to her current position as President & COO. She also serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Massachusetts Biotechnology Education Foundation and the New England Chapter of the March of Dimes.
During our discussion, Kendalle shared how MassBio is employing strategic communication to tackle industry challenges and investing in DEI while holding its member organizations accountable as well. She also shared what her experience was like watching MassBio’s members create and distribute vaccines for COVID-19 in record time, and what such a significant breakthrough means for the industry at large.
